Do all adoptees feel like this? What’s wrong with me?
Did adoption cause me to feel how I feel? Does adoption have anything to do with these feelings at all?
Why do I feel disconnected, confused, depressed, angry, anxious?
Is it okay to search, make contact, connect? How?
How can I manage so many emotions?
What about me? I don’t want to search. I’ve had a happy life and I’m just curious, is this wrong?
I’m struggling with relationships, and I’ve tried everything, but nothing seems to work out.
I’m struggling to connect to my roots, and I feel confused. Why?
Adoptee Groups Therapy and Support
The support group is for adults 18 years or older who were adopted only. All adoptees are welcome on a drop-in basis. The group is not for prospective adopters, adoptive parents or other family members, natural/first/birth parents, adoption professionals or persons exploring adoption placement.
The therapy group is a closed group of adoptees who have agreed to come together in community towards mutual growth and healing from adoption trauma, and its many associated losses. It is a space to deeply explore with self and others.

Support groups are for people with a common living or lived experience. It is not therapy but for support and affirmation. Support groups give members a chance to know they are not alone and hear different points of view. It is member driven and we work together a group member could lead a meeting.
Therapy groups are run by licensed professionals with specific goals for the participants. We match participants with common goals and needs. There is a limit of the number of people in group between 5-7. There are set number of meetings over the course of a number of weeks.

Sometimes support groups are enough and sometimes not. Support and therapy are different and are not substitutes for each other.
Often support groups make connection accessible have a lower cost if any at all where people can drop in.
Therapy groups help people continue deeper healing work with a professional who is trained to help with many mental health concerns.
Sometimes support groups are enough and other times they are beneficial in supporting people through difficult therapy process.
It’s a personal decision for you and your provider to make in deciding what you need most.
